Screen Shot 2014-10-25 at 9.45.18 pmBetween having to think about packing for health, hygiene and comfort, there is a lot to remember. Have a read of my list. Here is ten items that you will always find in my backpack. Don’t get caught out – pack carefully!

  1. Wet Wipes: It is inevitable that you will get sticky hands and a sweaty face. When in need, wet wipes, can be a life saver.
  2. Antiseptic cream: Pretty self explanatory – regardless of where you are, any cuts are at risk of infection.
  3. Anti itch cream: Ive been overseas and seen a variety of interesting looking insects, that I’ve had no clue what they were. You will be surprised as to how many bites you can get in one night. Lets just hope they’re not bed bugs!
  4. Dry shampoo: You may be without proper showers for quite some time depending where you are. Although you may not end up looking like a super model, dry shampoo is better than no shampoo!
  5. Scarf: It is amazing how many times on flights, long bus rides, or in waiting areas, you just want a blanket or a pillow – a scarf can do the trick!
  6. Plastic bags: Small plastic bags come in handy for everything to waste, dirty clothes and muddy shoes.
  7. Nuts: Easily transportable, long lasting and can give you great energy.
  8. Bandaids: Protect any cuts you may have!
  9. Moleskin/other blister treatments: When backpacking, you can end up walking long distances, for huge amounts of time. Blisters are often just part of the deal.
  10. Portable charging device: Some times you may not always be sure when you will next be able to charge your smartphone. That, or you’ve just taken too many photos and your phone is running low on battery. A portable charger does the job!

  1. Good advice there, although as a guy I’ve never worried about the dry shampoo! 😛 It’s a good idea though. One godsend for me is plasters for the blisters…I always seem to get blisters on the side of my big toes (and heels). 😦
